We fancied a meal out and as we were already nearby we thought we’d give The Glass House, Kirk Sandall a Try as we had driven passed it countless times on our way to and from Doncaster! One of the first things you’ll notice is that there is loads of well lit parking available so we parked up and went in.
First impressions were a little awkward as it wasn’t initially clear whether we should wait until we were shown to a table or whether we were to find a table and order at the bar… Anyway we opted to seat ourselves, noted the table number and scanned the menu. I chose the Mince & Onion Pie with Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables while Mrs Surfer opted for the Chicken & Onion Pie with Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables so I made my way to the bar and ordered a couple of drinks and our meals.
The food arrived fairly quickly and was piping hot and of really good quality with very good portions and a jug of gravy each.
Having polished off our meals, our table was cleared and I asked if there was a desert menu (not sure why they don’t leave desert menus on tables or offer them as its not very apparent that deserts are available at all).
I opted for apple pie and custard and Mrs surfer fancied Passion Fruit Sorbet, off I went to the bar again to order where it transpired apple pie was not available however there was a selection of crumbles so I chose Apple & Blackberry Pie with custard.
The deserts arrived and they were really great – plenty of custard for me and I’m informed the Passion Fruit Sorbet was pretty good too!
Overall it was a good meal and we would definitely eat at The Glasshouse again, would be nice if they would take orders from the table though as I’m not a fan of having to go to the bar to order each course, but it was quality Pub Food and was very good value for money too.
