Last week we were very excited as our first grandchild was due to be born very soon so we spent a fair bit of time visiting the maternity unit at Doncaster Infirmary for checkups etc and as The Cumberland is virtually opposite the hospital we decided to treat ourselves to a meal out.
Having parked the car and paid for parking (refunded once you pay for your meal!) we found ourselves a table by the window, it was pretty busy as it was Saturday evening but not crowded. Browsing the menu we saw that the Saturday special was all big plate super specials for £7 which seemed to good an offer to turn down for us!
The three of us all opted for The “Burger Sizzler Combo” which includes a classic double bacon & cheese burger with 5 chicken wings, and a 5oz rump steak topped with BBQ sauce on a sizzling skillet of peppers and onions. Served with fries and corn on the cob.
With drinks the entire meal for the three of us came to less than £30 and proved to be tremendous value for money and once the meal was served it turned into a man vs food challenge 😀 😀
The steaks were all cooked exactly as requested and the meal was delicious, definitely worth a visit and of a calibre you’d expect to pay much more for so was really fine dining on a budget!
Here’s some photo’s of our meal – they really don’t do it justice!
I treated myself to a lovely pint of John Smith’s – the perfect accompaniment to any meal (In my opinion anyway!)
