Another year is upon us as we say farewell to 2017 and bid a warm welcome to 2018!
2017 was a brilliant year for JDC events up and down the country with more than a few miles covered and lot’s of meet ups with friends both old and new. Here’s a brief roundup of some of the highlights of the past year with The Jaguar Drivers Club.
April heralded the long awaited annual event staged at RAF Cosford, This event is a fantastic family day out as not only is it attended by hundreds of Jaguar cars including two XJ220 Supercars and their owners but it also gives free unrestricted access to the RAF Museum. A big group of us also met up the evening before for a meal and a beer or two – great fun was had by all!
In June we were invited on a run out organised by our friends at Jaguar Forums in Scotland which proved to be a great day out including a visit to The Famous Grouse Distillery located in Crieff this proved to be another great weekend away.
July saw us taking part in the 3rd Annual Peaks Run organised by the admins of The JDC X-Type Register which as usual proved to be a great weekend away with around 50 Jaguars attending the run culminating in a lovely carvery lunch at the Charming Palace Hotel, Buxton.
August 6th found us attending JDC National Day in the beautiful grounds of Wroxall Abbey which naturally was very well attended and gave us another excuse (not that we actually need one!) for a couple of days away and an opportunity to meet up with friends and of course make new ones too. With hundreds of Jaguars on display there really was something for everyone.
The following week found us at the Area 66 Open day in the garden of The Queens Hotel which proved to be a lovely day out in the sun with a very good turnout of like minded Jaguar enthusiasts including a fantastic pub lunch at The Queens Hotel and an afternoon relaxing in the sun.
In September we joined up with our friends at Area 66 for a great run out culminating in fish & chips at Bridlington (see last month’s issue of Jaguar Driver) and write up here – 8 Cats Go For Fish & Chips in Bridlington
The Penultimate event of the year for us was the Halloween Spooktacular in October at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon Organised by the admins of the Facebook JDC groups – http://Jaguar Drivers Club. This proved to be a very well attended event with a good number of cars attending, with many people making he effort to attend in fancy dress and a lots of cars were given the fancy dress treatment too! – see write up here – The JDC pre Halloween Spooktacular Event @ Gaydon
The year (For us) wrapped up with the Area 66 Christmas Dinner at The Queens Hotel, East Markham on the 10th December which was great fun with a lovely meal and a good laugh in great company! Even Santa dropped in!
Having looked back on the year gone by it’s surprising just how many events and day out opportunities there are in the JDC Calendar and we are really looking forward to everything that 2018 has in store for us!
